Fresh A.I.R. Gallery exhibits the works of individuals affected by mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders. Through art, we educate the community and work to break down stigma of mental illness and substance abuse disorders by bringing focus to the artistic vision. Fresh A.I.R. Gallery opened its doors in September of 2004 to celebrate Southeast’s 25 year anniversary and typically sponsors between five and eight exhibits a year. Fresh A.I.R. Fresh A.I.R. Gallery presents
Phil Adams & Matthew Ashton
Jan. 29 - March 6, 2020
Fresh A.I.R. Gallery cordially invites you to a dual photography exhibition featuring the artwork of Phil Adams and Matthew Ashton. Please join us for the opening reception on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Adams' and Ashton's work will be on view at Fresh A.I.R. Gallery until March 6, 2020.
Phil Adams is a self-taught street photographer who has lived in the south end of Columbus since 1999. He also lives with depression and considers photography to be part of his treatment plan. Adams' work, Things We Throw Away: Redeeming the Refuse, examines trash in the neighborhoods surrounding South Parsons Avenue and the symbolism, humor, and questions it evokes.
Matthew Ashton is film photographer based in southeast Ohio. For him, the camera serves as a tool to communicate loneliness, abandonment, and everyday feelings that he cannot express with words. Street photography has been an integral part of his recovery.
We look forward to seeing you at the exhibit! Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions. Fresh A.I.R. Gallery can be reached by phone at (614) 744-8110 or by email at email@example.com.
